Gary & Sheri Goldman Say "I Do" at the Four Seasons Resort

There is nothing better than being involved in a friends wedding, it's great to know you had a part in making the day all it could be. Sheri is the director of catering at the St. Regis resort and a long time friend, Gary is my financial planner. With the bride being in the business a lot of vendors went above and beyond and all aspects of the celebration were amazing. I know they both had the night of their lives, the honeymoon destination was Bali! Some of the vendors that made this so great were Kathy Wright & Co., Trina Lozano (coordinator), Tim Otto Photography, Cake and Rene Roques and Associates, (lighting) and NRG. (they had the best of both worlds..band and DJ.

A night at the zoo!

The vacation is over, it's back to work and the San Diego Zoo is a fun place to work! It was a corporate event for Elanco and they even brought out a few animals for the guests to enjoy. The Zoo is a wonderful venue and it is available for private events and weddings.

Victoria - Vancouver

We arrived in Vancouver on Friday at 7 AM and headed off the ship to catch the ferry to Victoria and a tour of Butchart Gardens. It is a virtual floral paradise unlike any I've ever seen -www.butchartgardens.com - We got a mini tour of Victoria and then caught a float plane back to Vancouver, that is a fun way to fly! On Saturday a whirl wind tour of Vancouver and then on Sunday we flew back to San Diego. A great trip but I would have loved to spent more time in both places, we plan on returning for another visit. Astoria, Oregon

We arrived in Astoria at 7 AM and this place is right out of the movies...amazing scenery. A river pilot brought the ship up the Columbia river and we anchored just off shore, I had no idea a river could be that massive. After a tour of town we headed up to the Astoria Tower for an incredible view, it was worth the climb. (All 164 steps) This is really a neat place and the locals were great, the ships come thru twice a year and they treat the tourists well. Astoria was the 1st settlement west of the Mississippi and has a great maritime museum. The Kevin Costner movie the Guardian was also filmed here.

Fun at Sea!

It's our second day at sea and we are on our way to Astoria, Oregon. The seas are a bit rough and the swimming pool is rocking but it's not slowing us down a bit. The food and entertainment has been great and the black jack table is treating me OK. My wife and I are cruising with my long time friend Jim who flew in from St. Louis to join us and his girlfriend Connie. Connie is the blond and my wife Teresa is the brunette. I love my job but it's good to get away!

On the road again...

My wife and I are heading off today for a little 4 day cruise to Vancouver, B.C. I've never been there but I here it is beautiful. At this time of the year a lot of cruise ships are being repositioned to begin the Alaska runs so it's a way one trip. We will spend a couple of days visiting Vancouver and Victoria and fly home on Sunday...should be fun!

John and Gilda Campbell - Sunshine and Smiles!

It was a magnificent day for a wedding by the bay, 76 and sunshine is hard to beat. John and Gilda's wedding was really special, all of their children were in attendance and approved whole heartily of the union! While it can be a little tougher to get people dancing when the sun is out, this group had no problem filling the dance floor.

Raising Some Cash for the Kids!

While I love to DJ I also enjoy the duties of auctioneer and that was my role on for the annual Grant School fundraiser. The theme this year was "Jade Jubilee", it had a bit of a Mardi Gras feel to it and was a lot of fun. There were some great auction items on the block including a week in Park City, Utah. The evening was a huge success and I believe around $40,000 was raised for the school.

"Lighting up the Hall of Champions"

I think lighting can add a lot to the ambiance of a room and the Hall of Champions is one that really benefits from it. To create mood and keep the house lights off the entire area was washed in a two tone amber that enhanced the look of the Brown and Celadon color scheme. The couple wanted a dramatic grand entrance so I used a follow spot from the balcony and covered first the groom and then the bride down the staircase, they met up in the middle on the Starburst gobo and then right into the first dance. If you really want to take it to the next level it's also a great venue to pin spot tables.

Ed and Phoebe Morimoto - Love at the newly renovated US Grant!

Phoebe and Ed came from New York City to celebrate their wedding at the US Grant. It was my first event at the Grant since the renovation and the property looks awesome. The reception was in the Celestial Ballroom and with Kathy Wright and Co. doing the flowers/decor the room looked amazing. Phoebe and Ed chose an old Andy Williams tune "Happy Heart" for the 1st dance and it was perfect for them. They had taken a couple of lessons and looked pretty smooth on the floor. This was a dancing crowd and that made my night easy...two thumbs up to the team at the US Grant, they were on top of it!

Volunteers Make the Midway Magic!

I was asked again this year to donate my services for the San Diego Aircraft Carrier Museum "Midway" volunteers party, I was happy to say yes! If you have not been aboard the Midway yet you are missing out on one of San Diego's greatest assets. It is an amazing ship and every year they have an appreciation party for all the volunteers that have helped restore and maintain the ship. A number of these people served on the Midway and it is always a special night. Mayor Sanders even stopped by to say hi and congratulate the team on a job well done!

Art Alive - Dancing with the Classics!

I had the pleasure of providing the entertainment for this years "Art Alive" Celebration at the Museum of Modern Art in Balboa Park. I believe I was the 1st DJ ever to play in Gallery 13. In keeping with the floral theme I projected some Daisy gobos on the dance floor and utilized a couple of Topaz light fixtures to brighten up the walls. It was a lot of fun and after everyone enjoyed the incredible food and art, the dance floor became the final attraction.

Erik & Heloisa Miller - A Brazilian Affair!

With about 1/2 of the guests from Brazil I knew we were in for some serious dancing. While I played a bit of everything a little "Carnival" music was definitely in order. The reception was held at the La Jolla Woman's club and for their first dance they chose "Better Together" by Jack Johnson, it's a pretty popular song this year. The ring bearer was a wild man and he kept his mom running all night. Too much fun!

I love thank you cards...a few words from Heloisa & Erik
"Thank you so much for making our wedding reception "a night to remember". Everyone had such a great time dancing. Your music was awesome and your energy contributed to the enthusiasm of our guests!

Jason & Christine McDonald - The Lovely La Valencia!

It was a Navy Wedding as both Jason & Christine are in the service, Christine
is a Navy Doctor and Jason flies Helicopters. The 1st dance was a classic,
"The Way You Look Tonight" by Frank Sinatra and the bridal party joined them 1/2 way through the song. The flower girl ended up with the Bouquet! The La Valencia is one of my favorite locations, it's got a view to die for and perhaps the best food in town.
